Publyon announces a strategic partnership with Jan Huitema, former Member of the European Parliament. Huitema will continue his advisory work through his own company, EUnity Consulting, and in that capacity will collaborate with Publyon on specific assignments. The partnership will apply to both the firm’s Dutch practice and its European activities in Brussels.
The collaboration strengthens the joint advisory capacity on issues that lie at the intersection of national and European decision-making. Huitema’s experience and network in The Hague and Brussels closely align with Publyon’s integrated public affairs and strategic positioning approach.
Jan Huitema served as a member of the European Parliament from 2014 to 2024. During that time, he worked on policy areas including agriculture, climate, energy, innovation, and public health. His knowledge of European legislation and political decision-making is a valuable addition to Publyon’s advisory services for companies, industry associations, and civil society organizations.
“Through my own company, I work as an independent strategic advisor on European and national policy dossiers,” said Jan Huitema. “When dealing with complex issues, I enjoy working with partners who are strong on substance and capable of bridging the gap between Brussels and The Hague. In Publyon, I have found a partner with whom we can combine expertise and networks in a natural way.”
Margreet Lommerts, partner at Publyon, added:
“Many of the policy challenges our clients face today require a deep understanding of both the European and the national policy arena. By working with Jan, we are able to combine hands-on political experience with strategic advisory expertise, allowing us to support clients even more effectively on complex cross-border policy issues.”
The partnership fits within Publyon’s broader ambition to support organizations on issues where national and European policymaking are increasingly interconnected. By combining political experience, substantive expertise, and strategic advisory services, Publyon continues to build its position as a partner for organizations seeking to achieve sustainable impact in The Hague and Brussels.
