The role
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced professional with previous experience in Public Affairs and proven expertise in the EU transport, energy and sustainability policy areas.
Your responsibilities
As a director you will be:
- Managing client portfolios in close collaboration with your colleagues;
- Providing strategic advice on policy developments and identifying their impact on businesses;
- Helping our clients create sustainable relationships with policy makers, interest groups, industry and the media;
- Seeking new business opportunities and working alongside other senior members of the team on business development activities such as pitch preparation and delivery;
- Adopting a proactive mindset with strategic thinking and business acumen;
- Mentoring and coaching staff;
- Brainstorming continuously with the team to improve our work and services on a day-to-day basis.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience in areas such as strategic consultancy, corporate affairs, policy/public affairs;
- Proficiency in both English and Dutch; additional EU languages are an asset;
- Affinity for at least one of Publyon’s focus areas: transport & energy, sustainability and digital & tech;
- Commercial acumen with a demonstrated ability to drive business opportunities; extensive professional network and a track record of building and leveraging connections effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to foster strong relationships across individuals, teams and corporate structures;
- Proven ability to operate in complex regulatory and stakeholder environments;
- Strong leadership skills with a history of successfully leading and inspiring teams;
- Strategic mindset and analytical skills with the capacity to adopt the helicopter view and maintain a high-level perspective while driving tangible results;
- Academic degree.

We are looking for a highly motivated trainee to support our team.
As a Public Affairs trainee you are responsible for:
- Assisting consultants in conducting research, analysis and monitoring activities for their clients;
- Assisting consultants in the development and execution of Public Affairs and communication strategies;
- Assisting and learning to influence political decision-making through the development and execution of Public Affairs strategies;
- Preparing background notes, briefings, reports, and policy-related articles.
Who are you?
- Graduated before March from a Master’s degree in a relevant field such as European studies, Political Science, Communications or other relevant education;
- Previous internship experience within the European Institutions and/or Public Affairs is an asset;
- Excellent spoken and written English and Dutch (Native-speaker level or equivalent).
- Strong IT skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) as well as basic knowledge of social media;
- Proactive and dynamic person with excellent communication and personal skills;
- Flexible work attitude, hands-on mentality, able to work on multiple tasks simultaneously;
- Sound interest in policies related to digital and tech, transport, energy and sustainability at European level.

Terms and conditions
- The post will be available starting from March 2025;
- Duration: 6 months;
- The traineeship is remunerated under the conditions of the ‘Convention d’immersion professionnelle / Beroepsinlevingsstage’
